Alan Coates

Responsible Business Practice Expert

Alan has been in the business world for nigh on 50 years. He has spent over 30 years in United Biscuits and had directorships in Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing and Trade Relations and Responsible Business Practice. In 2003 he took early “semi-retirement” and embarked on a wide variety of roles which included 7 years at Business in the Community as an account director, 10 years as Chair of Park Royal Partnership, 2 years as Chair of London Business Link and 10 years as a Director at Knowledge Peers, a company dedicated to helping to broaden the knowledge of SME’s to improve their decision making.

 

Alan has also had non exec roles with William Murray (PR and Communications) and Goldteam (Recruitment) and spent terms on the board of West London Business and chaired manufacturing projects for the London Development Agency. He has also been involved with a lot of the organisations in the Charitable sector - he was a Trustee for John Lewis, Compass, Heathrow and Refugees into Jobs. He is passionate about communities and the need to make society more cohesive and recognises the important contribution that businesses of all sizes can bring to making communities more efficient on all fronts.
